At about 10 am we stated test flying and found the air to be "floatly" but with no well defined thermals and some of us decided to attempt offical flights, most with success as our scores attest. however 2 of our fliers had thier worst flight of the day. A Saturday with bad weather leaved us in doubt to fly the IPC on Sunday. But Sunday morning the weather seemed surprisingly promising as overnight a wind direction change to the south wiped away those heavy clouds. Eight Pilots entered the flying field at about 10 o`clock and we began flying in already very good thermal conditions and lots of good times where have been flown. The models flown where mostly F3J and some RES Design - all can give good flight times and the decisive part of a good flight score is the landing. We should be more regularly on landings - perhaps by additional Training ?! At about midday the wind changed direction to the north and freshed up a bit - so we had to turn over the winch arrangement. The attainable flight times where now shorter and less regularly to achieve as Lift became more and more turbulent and dissipated rather quickly. Therefore we tried to finish the 5 rounds of the contest as quick as possible and managed to finish short before 1400 PM The bad weather with rain waited to return until a fine barbeque at the clubhouse ended and all beer cans where have been emptied.
Happy flying and always some lift under the wings!

Thermals improved a little but very few well defined thermals were found all day.

Just letting you know that although MRSSA planned to fly the IPC, was unable due to rain fall on all the available weekends. We don't usually get such bad weather this time of year and it seems to cycle across the weekends. It is now 7 weeks since I've been to our field due rain and 2 competitions at other clubs 200 and 400 km away (where the weather was better).
We'll just have to plan for the next one.
